Art freak #1: Hilma af Klint
Group IX/SUW, The Swan, No. 1 (1915) by Hilma af Klint
I’ve always loved this painting. Not only because it’s symmetry, but also for the concept it transmits: duality.
According to what art experts say, The Swan nº1 represents the contrast between light and dark, femininity and masculinity, life and death. Those apparently opposite energies, though, are beautifully connected by what it looks like a kiss.
For me it’s a perfect representation of nature –and life–, where things that, at first glance, seem like they shouldn't work together, end up showing us that one is not without the other. Lovely.
